Home Remedies for Pelvic Pain

No pain is normal and is the body’s method of communicating something is wrong. Whilst taking pain medications may help in managing pain, if the pain is persistent or reoccurring it’s important to investigate further. Many women experience pelvic pain at some point in their lives. Any pain that radiates below the navel and above the legs is referred to as pelvic pain.

The source of pelvic pain is varied and can occur as a result of Period pain, Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Urinary Tract Infections, Muscle Pain or Vulval pain.
Often there is no medical cause or clear diagnosis.

In Yoga therapy we look at the body in terms of energy centres. The pelvic bowl for women not only supports the reproductive organs, but is seen as a sensual and sacred centre of creativity and creation. It is here that women connect with their self-identity and spiritual selves.

This area of the female body is also considered a storehouse for emotional baggage. If you already practice yoga, you may be aware how hip openers invoke many emotions. As we work into this area emotions that we haven’t processed or released come flooding to the surface.

Yoga therapy looks to reduce inflammation, improve circulation and mobility within the pelvis and release long-held emotions.
Dietary changes that help reduce inflammation may also help, along with massage, and techniques to better manage stress and anxiety.
